[ English ]

Much has been stated in the papers just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the cigarette ban in England. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big aid to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. But will the web variation of this quintessential game offer a lifeline, or will it not compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?

Bingo is an enduring game generally played by the "blue rinse" generation. Although the game lately had experienced a recent comeback in acceptance with younger members of society opting to go to the bingo parlors instead of the discos on a Saturday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the enacting of the anti smoking law all over England and Wales.

No longer will enthusiasts be permitted to puff on cigarettes at the same time marking numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public areas will not be permitted to allow cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most popular locations where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo parlours. Profits have dropped and the industry is absolutely fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not forgotten this enduring game?

The answer is on the internet. Players are now realizing that they can play bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a beer and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at monstrous prizes. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on online could never replace the collective portion of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of people the law has left a number of bingo enthusiasts with no option.
